Controversial Marketing Campaign of the Day: Jacqueline, a plus-size model and pornography website star also known as “Juicy Jackie” (NSFW), has taken serious offense to the unwitting use of her image in two promotions for pro-infidelity dating site Ashley Madison.
“There is an enormous problem in this world in regards to female body shaming, and not solely in regard to fat women, but all women,” the size 32 BBW wrote in post for Jezebel. “A size 2 woman who sees this ad sees the message: ‘If I don’t stay small, he will cheat.’ A size 12 woman might see this ad and think ‘If I don’t lose 30lbs, he will cheat.’ A size 32 woman could see this ad, and feel ‘I will never find love.’ It’s horrific.”
Noel Biderman, CEO of the site that caters to married men looking for some strange, fired back, saying that Jacqueline knew where her photo might end up when she signed the release that allowed photo agencies to sell it for repurposing.
More over, she should be thrilled at the exposure. “The best thing that could’ve happened to this woman is that we used her in our ad,” said Biderman. “Despite what she may want you to think, she is reaping the press for her own pornography website.”
He told ABC News he obtained the photo legally through Getty Images.
Defending the substance of the ad, Biderman retorted, “I don’t think it’s a jab at fat people … I always try to do advertising in real-life situations. For many people, a [spouse] is less attractive because they don’t pay attention to their body type.”
This ad is SUPER fucked up.
